Bobcat Football Gears Up For Home Stretch

Ohio hosts Buffalo Wednesday night in a critical game for either team if they want to maintain hopes of going to a bowl game. The Bobcats have some extra incentive to win this Mid-American Conference contest, as they likely remember last year’s meeting with the Bulls well, because of a decision made by Tom McCabe in the 3rd quarter (video uploaded to YouTube by ESPN)…

ESPN named this video “Ohio Called For Controversial Safety vs. Buffalo.” However, one viewer commented, “This wasn’t controversial. It was bad. Controversial suggests that it might be right.” As for the aftermath, Buffalo scored a touchdown on the ensuing possession and won 30-3, while Ohio endured a 1-4 stretch (including the Buffalo game) to end the season.

Wednesday is the beginning of a slate that will ultimately determine whether the Bobcats are bowl-eligible for the sixth year in a row. If they beat the Bulls in Athens, that will provide much-needed confidence ahead of a home game in two weeks against a Northern Illinois team in the running for the MAC West. Ohio closes its regular season November 25 at Miami.
